The article talked about what not to do with a social media
marketing account. It advised to not fall behind on posting, to not be all
about promotion, and keep an eye on the news and not rely on automated posting
to avoid posting something insensitive. It also brings up that social media
should be used to compliment a website and content should be tailored to fit
the platforms to be consistent across them. It also suggested to not be afraid
to experiment with the platforms as they are always evolving. The article talks
about how now unpaid business page posts are being seen less than ever and
suggest creative ways to get around the issue.

These are all related to class because have talked about
what creates brand loyalty. People want the brand to feel authentic by posting original
content and interact with the consumers through getting feedback or responding
to posts. I see this as fitting in with creating brand loyalty because if a business
falls behind on posting content they may be not serious in their brand. This can
translate to people feeling the brand won’t stand behind their items and not
buy or be loyal to the brand. Why would you be loyal to someone who is not
putting the effort in. The automated posting
falls into this. If you post something insensitive because you relied on
automated posting it will drive people away and make them feel like the brand doesn’t
care about what’s going on. That feeling will make them change brands or not be
loyal to the brand.
As discussed in class social media sites should be about the
people not the business. If all you do is promote your items, the social media
will make people feel that the page is all about the brand and not them as
customers.
Finally, being creative is an important thing because with
the changing social media platforms it is getting harder and harder to stand
out. If not paying to be featured on a social media platform then you must work
hard to get noticed.
