Article
This article is about the TSA’s social media account and how it is going about promoting the restrictions about items that can be brought on the plane so people are more aware. The article talks about how there is humor in regards to these posts along with images of the confiscated items.  One example is a glove that had razors for fingers. The article quotes “It’s safe to sleep on Elm Street again. Freddy lost his glove at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).” (Long)

This falls into marketing because it is raising awareness about a service. While it is not selling a product to customers it is raising awareness of the policies inplace to make people's’ trips smoother.

This relates to class because it we talked about making the social media experience all about the users. Anyone viewing the TSA’s feeds would be able to say that they are getting knowledge about the trinkets that might get confiscated. The regulations are not considered when bringing home souvenirs. This feed educates these individuals about how to travel smarter and not lose their stuff to TSA.

The humor also makes it more personable. It invites people in for a laugh. People are more likely to keep following to see what is going to see what else will get confiscated and what joke will be made. While TSA is not going to get brand loyalty as they are not selling a product, they are educating those following the feed. A devoted following allows for more information to seep into the consciousness of the public.

Finally it taps into the entertainment zone as people like to see the crazy things that are confiscated. It is not relevant to anything but people find it interesting to see what people take on to the plane. We are fascinated with what other people are doing and this feed plays into that.
