This article is talking about how social media is important for events. It is brought up that social media is a good way to spread awareness of the event as so many people are already on their phone. It also helps to direct the event promotion to the right target audience as the platforms can provide information on the demographics of its users. The platforms can also be used by attendees to share what is going on at the event and interact with the people at the event for things such as contests. Finally, it can also be used to set up for the next event by showing what went on at the one just held and give an idea of what will happen at the next one. (Nadiadwala)

This relates to class because we looked at how as a paid marketer on social media you can keep track of KPI. Using social media to promote events will make it available to wider audience and you can send the information to your target market. The KPI’s will let the marketers understand if their event has been seen and how many people who saw it interacted with it. This information is important because it will let marketers know if their promotion is being seen by people and if it is engaging enough to get people to come. If not enough people are responding to it maybe the post would have to show what friends of this person are going as class mentioned that caused engagement with a post to increase.

Finally  the use of social media through out the event is important because it would be coming from people inside the event. Not the people running it. This would show how much people love the event and would get people to come checks it out. It is like opinion leaders. If the opinion leader is doing something it will spread to the people who follow them.
