This article is about retailors sharing how social media has helped brands and what to know to do well on social media. The brand Showpo attributed most of its growth to social media. One of the challenges mentioned is how platforms will change and the brands have to adjust due to changes.  One of the things that is important to know is the customer’s journey such as knowing who visited, how they got to the page, and knowing how much revenue the customer delivered vs cost of getting the consumer. An example of this is shown in the article is that Facebook customers while more costly than google customer produce more revenue (Maras)

This relates to class because we have touched on knowing the target demographics such as what they like and where they live, only to name a couple. This falls into line about understanding the customer’s journey because understanding how the target demographic got to your page can influence your marketing strategy. By playing to the strengths of the marketing you can increase the amount of traffic you receive and cut spending to ineffective methods. You can also focus on the methods that got you the highest revenue consumers.

This also relates to class because many news updates covered the changes to different platforms’ layouts.  The layouts can affect the social media strategy of brands. This shows how the constant changing has to have brands constantly on their toes regarding what is going on. If the lay out changes then they may be losing views and potential consumers if they are not on top of their game.
